Top Tips for Auditions

Our History & Mission

Founded in 2006, Spotlights was created out of a passion for inspiring young people through the performing arts. Over the years, we have grown from a small weekend school into a respected institution with a strong reputation for high-quality training, nurturing confidence, and helping students realize their potential both on stage and off through creative performing opportunities that build confidence.

What drives us:

  1.
A belief that every child, no matter their ability or background, deserves a chance to shine in a supportive environment.
  2. The philosophy of our STAR System — helping students build Self-confidence, work through Teamwork, engage in Active Learning, and move towards Realising Potential.
  3. Commitment to safe, supportive, fun environments. All teachers are DBS checked, at least one first-aid trained person is always on site, and we maintain strong child protection policies.

What we offer:

Small class sizes

(max 20 children) so teachers can give individual attention.

Classes across all ages

(4-18), for beginners through to more advanced levels. Including specialised offerings like LAMDA examinations.

Regular performances

children get the chance to perform each term (the younger children perform three times a year and the older children perform twice per year). That helps with stage confidence, team work, public speaking, and performing with creativity, not just performance.

Talent agency included

membership is free for current students. We’ve developed links with casting directors and work in theatre, television, commercials etc.

Credibility & Success

Trusted over many years

Spotlights has been operating since 2006, has built a loyal base of students and parents, and regularly stages high-standard productions.

Recognised teaching team

Directors and teachers with professional backgrounds in acting, dance or music; many students achieve strong results in LAMDA or similar qualifications.

Community reputation

Parents consistently comment on how students grow in confidence, how performances are well produced, and how children enjoy being part of Spotlights.
